The International School of Los Angeles is an independent, international, high-quality school that offers both a French immersion track from preschool through 12th grade and a separate international high school track that prepares students for the International Baccalaureate® Diploma Programme in grades 11 and 12.
Students study a common bilingual program from preschool through 8th grade, after which they choose one of two rigorous programs that culminates in the International Baccalaureate® Diploma (taught in English) or the French baccalauréat (taught in French). With an education delivered in an intimate, nurturing and diverse environment, our students become caring global citizens prepared to thrive in a changing world.
The School has offered the IB Diploma Programme for more than 20 years. Possessing such a robust bilingual background, many of its students pursue the prestigious Bilingual Diploma, demonstrating their proficiency by completing the requirements in both English and French at Literature level. This highly sought-after credential has become another mark of distinction for the International School of Los Angeles' IB students.
In the 2019-2020 school year, the School extended its international track to the beginning of 9th grade, thereby realigning its entry points to reflect the US educational model, further internationalizing its curriculum, and providing students an additional year of preparation ahead of the IB Diploma Programme. Students entering the international track in 9th grade are not required to demonstrate proficiency in French but should display an openness to learning another language.
With multiple Los Angeles-area campuses (Burbank, Los Feliz, Pasadena, and West Valley), and more than 1,000 students, the International School of Los Angeles holds accreditation from the French Ministry of Education, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS), and the International Baccalaureate® (IB). The School is also a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the National Honor Society (NHS) networks.
The International School of Los Angeles is committed to the values of respect, excellence, and diversity, and to preparing students of all backgrounds to excel in and contribute to a global world. Since 1978, the School has been instilling the love of learning in all its students through small classes and low student-to-teacher ratios. With over 65 nationalities and 40 spoken languages represented on the campuses, students at the International School of Los Angeles truly speak and think globally.
