Located in Vigo, Galicia, O Castro British International School is a private, secular, international school for children ages 3 to 18. It is the only school in Galicia to offer a full English National Curriculum from early years to sixth form. O Castro British International School belongs to Globeducate British International Schools and has been part of the Globeducate prestigious network since 2017. This allows the school to offer a diverse range of student international experiences and opportunities.

With a full English immersion programme, they aim to educate their students to become responsible members of society with the ability to understand and embrace the challenges of the world we live in today. Alongside being confident and effective communicators, they are also able to give their opinions and work effectively in teams.

The curriculum is designed to bring out the best in every student. The school follows the English National Curriculum, gaining qualifications that are accepted for entry at top universities across Spain, the UK, and the rest of the world. It is also certified by the Galician government and regulated by the British Council and NABSS (the National Association of British Schools in Spain) who conduct regular inspections in order to ensure that the school maintains the highest standards in all that they do.

Building skills to last a lifetime

They are dedicated to ensuring that every student is motivated toward their learning; each student is given individualised support to help realise their potential and to develop new skills and talents. As students move through the school they are taught how to research, study, and learn more independently, and their teachers employ a wide range of strategies to guide and direct each student's learning journey to ensure that they achieve their maximum potential.

The school offers a wide and balanced curriculum, both in the subjects taught and the delivery of these. Learning uses digital technologies combined with more traditional resources to help ensure students are ready for the next stage in their education or career.

School campus

Founded in September 2008, it was designed to meet the high standards expected of today's international private schools. The school is set in grounds of 33,000 m2, with modern, bright and spacious facilities, that have been carefully designed to meet each student’s educational and social needs, both in terms of academic performance and extracurricular activities. It includes ICT and STEAM rooms, science labs, two libraries, a Black Box, recreational and wooded areas, including a Green Zone, a psychomotor skills suite for the little ones, a 2,000 m2 sports centre, basketball and a multi-purpose artificial grass pitch.

Life at O Castro goes beyond the classroom. The school offers a full programme of extra-curricular activities, exchanges and international events with other Globeducate schools. O Castro also provides their students with an exclusive outdoor learning programme, from the age of three upwards: "The Journey", a unique opportunity to build character, knowledge, skills, competencies and global perspectives as they embark on a personal journey of discovery and challenge. This programme, unique to Globeducate schools, lays the foundation for following the internationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh programme, aimed at students from Year 9 to Year 12.

As a British school, O Castro promotes the traditional House System to foster collaboration between students of different ages, team spirit, leadership skills and reinforce the sense of belonging to a community.
