With more than 30 nationalities, SEK Santa Isabel offers of a dynamic multicultural environment set in the heart of Las Letras, the historic cultural district of Madrid. The only school in the center of Madrid to deliver the International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Programme, students learn in real world settings where their classroom extends beyond school walls to the museums, theaters, galleries, neighborhood gardens, traditional markets and Retiro Park.
SEK-Santa Isabel offers Early Childhood and Primary Education (3-12). Our innovative educational model is based on early stimulation, immersion in English and Spanish and the development of talent, creativity, and academic achievement. We boast of a vibrant school wide community and personalized learning experiences in a safe environment that fosters emotional intelligence.
Through an active learning approach, SEK-Santa Isabel turns classrooms into flexible learning spaces. The student becomes an active agent, building learning for themselves. The Design Thinking and Design for Change methodologies helps students to discover talents and develop skills such as cooperation, creativity and innovation. These methodologies permit student designed and structured learning opportunities that bring together objectives, needs and resources in projects with both academic and real world application. Two such examples are Passion Pursuits, whereby students discover and advance their own learning interests. Another is Learning Paths, named a best practice by Harvard's Project Zero project, where teachers and students design curricular learning activities using spaces and resources from the local community of the neighborhood and city.
We believe that learning has changed forever. SEK-Santa Isabel provides students with the skills they need to face the challenges of the future, fostering global competencies, critical thinking, communication, public speaking and multiple intelligence.
Students take part in our renowned music school and extensive arts department, learn additional languages and can choose from a range of extracurricular activities, extended hours and sports activities. We have a spacious gym on school grounds, as well as outdoor areas for sports such as swimming, tennis and padel tennis, football and basketball. Our Stellar Programme aims to enrich personal development for high-achieving students.
SEK schools are pioneers in offering International Baccalaureate programmes, boasting an educational model that has made a tradition of innovation, placing them among the best schools in Spain since their foundation in 1892.
