Princess Margaret International School in Barcelona joins Globeducate

Posted on 21st Jun 2023 in School News, Spain

Princess Margaret International School (PMIS), one of the leading IB international schools in Barcelona, has become the latest member of one of the world's leading K12 education groups, Globeducate. The group has 55+ premium bilingual and international schools, and online programmes, in 10 countries, educating 31,000 students.

The school's reputation, experience and vision for the future were key reasons for this partnership, along with the team's excellence and dedication. Day after day, the PMIS team makes this a school of reference in Barcelona, ensuring that each student becomes the best they can be, respecting the identity and unique talent of each individual – which complements the Globeducate vision, preparing each student to become a global citizen who can shape the world.

Princess Margaret International School was the first international school in Barcelona to receive official certification to develop the PYP and MYP programmes of the IB (International Baccalaureate) and now, with Globeducate, this prestigious school will realise its vision and ambitions to complete the Baccalaureate continuum by introducing the DP (IB Diploma Programme) in a new, modern adjoining site that is architecturally sustainable and unique in the neighbourhood. Senior students at the preuniversity stage will study here, with Globeducate's investment and expertise paving the way for the school to offer the three IB programmes: PYP-MYP-DP.

Like Globeducate, Princess Margaret International School works with a number of partners to deliver a commitment to develop students as global citizens, ready for the 21st Century workplace, such as VEX Robotics Competition, The European Youth Parliament, Save the Children, Agenda 21 BCN for Sustainability, and Animal Welfare Approved. The school's mission focuses on students learning to respect themselves and their environment in order to be able to contribute to the improvement of society. The school's key values are: solidarity, tolerance, respect, responsibility, honesty and creativity.

This new chapter in PMIS' history will also expand the school's international project and students' horizons by opening new doors to international events and exchanges with Globeducate schools in other countries. Teachers at PMIS will have the opportunity to share best practice with other prestigious Globeducate schools and grow professionally through joining international Globeducate learning communities and leadership programmes. The Globeducate Platinum Standard quality assessment and evaluation programme will also ensure the evolution of the school's development in line with other Globeducate schools.

Àlex Cerdà, Headmaster of Princess Margaret International School, said: “It is a great privilege for us to join Globeducate. We would like to highlight the added value that joining such an internationally recognised education group will represent for our school community. Our horizons, and particularly those of our students and staff, will grow exponentially, generating opportunities that would otherwise have been impossible to achieve, such as completing the educational offer by reaching the "continuum" with the extension and expansion of the Baccalaureate stage, including the IB Diploma Programme. We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the Globeducate team for the warm welcome we have received. From the very first moment they have offered us professionalism and educational sensitivity.”

Carolina Rodríguez Inciarte, CEO Spain & Andorra, said: “We are extremely excited to welcome Princess Margaret International School to our group of schools. Princess Margaret’s team has built an exceptional school, and I am sure that together we will not only become stronger as a group, but also provide PMIS students with a wider range of learning opportunities, both nationally and internationally, ensuring they can become global citizens prepared to shape the world.”
