Taking stock with Brave Blue – Talbot Heath pupil races to publish children’s book
Posted on 6th Feb 2018 in School Newssixth former Lucy Edbrooke has published her first children’s book entitled ‘Brave Blue’ which celebrates her love of stock car racing.
The 18-year-old has been stock car racing for over 3 years at tracks across the south, (but mainly at Bourne Raceway, near Wool) and was keen to share her racing experience and journey through the character of Brave Blue.
She said: "After creating a children’s book for my A-Level Graphics, I was motivated to develop the idea and formally publish my own book. Brave Blue is the story of a timid little car who was inspired to become a super stock car racer. Every challenge that Brave Blue experiences mirrors my own racing journey and successes."
As a child Lucy’s parents frequently took her to watch stock car racing and banger racing and she was quickly enthused to try it for herself. After building a car with her dad Lucy has since raced her way through the junior classes and now competes in a non-contact adult class; one day she hopes to race full contact.
The book is currently for sale on Amazon and Lucy will be talking about writing her book at the upcoming Spellbound2 Literary Festival in March. We wish her every success with her new enterprise.
To see Lucy and other children’s authors on Saturday 17th March, 2018, from 10:30am ‘till 16:00pm, at ‘Spellbound 2’ – A Festival of Literature and Illustration for Children and Young Adults – please visit Talbot Heath school website:
