The International School of Nice receives Performing Arts Centre of Excellence Award
Posted on 14th Apr 2023 in School News, Arts, FranceISN Nice was awarded the Arts International Centre of Excellence Award for the Performing Arts, receiving the award on the last night of the school's three-night run of Phantom of the Opera, the school's annual production.
ISN Nice, a Globeducate school, is one of only five schools in the world to receive this prestigious Centre of Excellence Award, and is the only school in France, and Globeducate, to be a recipient. Arts International works with ISN Nice, ICS Paris and ICS London – all Globeducate schools running innovative performing arts programmes and working closely with Dr Andrew Lee, Director of Arts International, and a team of professional musical theatre professionals.
Dr Lee was in Nice to handover the award. “The criteria for an award is very high. The school needs to have invested consistently in the arts, demonstrate the impact of art across the curriculum and across the community and produce high quality outcomes. I am so pleased to present ISN Nice with this award!â€
ISN Nice’s Director, Mel Curtis, said: “We are thrilled to receive this prestigious award. At ISN Nice we believe that an education that includes the arts is essential to a child’s development. Skills developed through participation in the arts are increasingly important in the workplace and therefore, key to a successful career.â€
ISN Nice is proud to offer the International Baccalaureate and is the only IB World School on the Côte d'Azur to offer instruction entirely in English while also having been awarded dual American and European accreditation. The school has been a leader in international education in the region for more than 40 years, and educates children aged 3 to 18, from 60 nationalities.
This award comes after the return of the ISN Nice school production, which, due to the pandemic, had to be put on hold for the last few years. A talented young cast and crew enjoyed all facets of creating and performing well-known stage shows, complete with iconic songs and dance routines. In recent years, the school's musical shows have presented at the school's 300-seat ISN Nice theatre and have proven to be unforgettable musical theatre experiences for all the community, and it was no exception this year.
ISN Nice Production Director, Marianne Stewart, said: “It was such a pleasure to work with such a talented team of students and colleague-friends. I am also sincerely grateful for the musical and choreography support received from our associated partner - Arts International. This academic year marks the second in which ISN has collaborated with the Arts International team - workshops led by industry professionals (TV/film and stage) have both complemented the IB Learner Profile attributes as well as the work of our existing talented teaching team. It is such an honour to have received the Arts International Centre of Excellence Award, which recognises our school's 'Inspire, Nourish and Support' philosophy, as well as reinforcing the value of the transferable skills gained through the Arts.â€
